Bishop David Oyedepo, the Presiding Bishop of Living Faith Church, has warned Nigerian youths against the destructive use of social media, claiming that the social media tale has destroyed the substance of most youngsters’ destiny in today’s society.
NewsReport Nigeria reports that Bishop
Oyedepo made the remarks at Covenant University’s 15th Convocation Ceremony, which took place yesterday at the University Chapel in Ota, Ogun State.
This online information gathered during the convocation, dubbed “The Release of Eagles 2020,” saw 1664 students graduate with first degrees, 254 with higher degrees, and 51 with first class honors across the university’s several disciplines. James-Okoro Paula Peace, a Bio-Chemistry student, was named best graduating student with 4.98 Grade Point Average (GPA).
Parents, university vice chancellors, ambassadors, government officials, and traditional rulers attended the occasion.
He forewarned that social media may be the source of this generation’s heroes’ demise. To deal with this beast, we must awaken from our slumber.
According to Oyedepo, some doctors have now categorised social media addiction alongside drug, alcohol, and sex addiction. He wondered aloud, “What a silent destroyer many are flirting with today?”
