African culture is such that promotes polygamy, but in the case of a king, it’s a reflection of his strength , wealth and influence such that they are given women for free.
The Yoruba culture bestows honour to a king with numerous wife as it is believed that his ability to control these women determines his control on the land he rules as a king.
Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, the Alaafin of Oyo is no exception of great Monarchs in the Yoruba kingdom and Nigeria as a whole. He is a first class Oba that everyone scrambles to gain recognition with. In his long reign as a king, he has been hooked with different women from the Yoruba land but latest choice has shown that the Oba’s taste is high and limitless.
The palace which was known to be a place of peace has in recent times experienced unsettlement and rumors of infidelity has being mongered , hence, this has made the king to choose peace of mind over unrest as he ties the knot with Chioma a lady from the Eastern part of the Country.
Alaafin was sighted at the inauguration of Chief Tomori Williams , the newly installed Aare Onikoyi of Yorubaland last weekend holding hands affectionately with his 13th wife.
This was unraveled when the Fuji Icon, Wasiu Ayinde Marshall sang praises of the great King recognizing the presence of Olori Chioma Adeyemi which made tongues to wag.
