The song is the 28-year-old’s first solo release since ‘Mr Money With The Vibe (MMWTV)’, his debut album, which dropped in September 2022.

Yoga, which was produced by Magicsticks, showcases the singer’s vocal prowess.

The less-than-three-minute track is hoisted by Asake’s ingenious formula of enchanting Lamba with splashes of his Fuji inflection and the choir effect.

The song’s slow and inspirational tune shares qualities with the delivery in ‘Dull’ — the intro in ‘MMWTV’ — and its sound draws heavily from spirituality.

The accompanying video mirrors the serenity and mindfulness of the melody and starts with a shot of Asake meditating on a breezy beachside with a deeply calming chant cooing in the background.

The footage segues into a choreography of colourfully adorned women swaying to the esoteric tune.

“Yoga, Yoga/ I dey on my way/ I dey para/ make nobody kill my Yoga, Yoga,” the singer chants.

Breathing life into the song, sensational video director, TG Omori, also stamps his signature on the visuals.

Born Ahmed Ololade, the 28-year-old ventured into music at a very young age. He also showcased his talent through several freestyle videos on social media.

He started to attract attention after he worked with Broda Shaggi in his comedy videos. He would later feature in the comedian’s song titled ‘Star’.

Asake burst into stardom in 2022 following a hit-making run of brilliance that birthed ‘Sungba,’ ‘Peace Be Upon You’, and ‘Terminator’.

He has teamed up with a plethora of Nigerian music heavyweights such as Burna Boy, Fireboy, and DJ Spinall.

He had a life-changing 2022 which culminated in his concert at the O2 Academy Brixton — which he sold out on three occasions.

The show, however, ended tragically with two people dead after a stampede ensued in the arena.

Asake is a graduate of theatre and performing arts at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU).
