Nigerian police rescue 12 kids and kill kidnappers in FCT.
The Nigeria Police Force has achieved a significant victory in the fight against kidnapping and child trafficking with the successful rescue of 12 children and the neutralization of notorious kidnappers in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
In a statement released by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, it was revealed that the Nigeria Police Force Intelligence Bureau-Intelligence Response Team (FIB-IRT) conducted a targeted operation around Mpape in Abuja, resulting in the elimination of many notorious kidnappers, including the kidnap kingpin Musa Wada (Sabo) Magaji. This operation was a response to intelligence that led security operatives to the hideout of the kidnappers.
The armed bandits engaged the police operatives in a 30-minute gun battle, during which many of the bandits were fatally injured, while one police operative sustained a bullet wound. The successful raid on the kidnappers’ hideout led to the recovery of crucial evidence, including mobile phones, multiple SIM cards, charms, and hard drugs. Efforts are ongoing to recover additional arms, ammunition, and other equipment used by the kidnappers.
Musa Wada, also known as Sabo, was identified as the mastermind behind numerous kidnappings for ransom activities in areas including Mpape and Bwari in the FCT, Kagarko in Kaduna, Masaka, and Nukun Village in Nasarawa State. His modus operandi involved targeting wealthy individuals and mobilizing armed gangs to carry out abductions for ransom.
The Nigeria Police Force reiterated its commitment to combating crime and ensuring the safety and security of all citizens. The force will continue to employ proactive measures to dismantle criminal networks and bring perpetrators of heinous crimes to justice.
In a separate incident, the FCT Police Command intercepted a resident of Kafanchan in Kaduna State who was transporting 12 underage children to Ogun State. The children, aged five to 16, were from Akwanga Local Government Council in Nasarawa State and were being trafficked by people who are now in police custody. The command, in collaboration with the Nasarawa State Police Command, is working to reunite the victims with their families.
The Commissioner of Police FCT, CP Benneth C. Igweh, emphasized that the safety of residents remains the utmost priority for the police force.
