Bandit Attacks Plunge Katsina Communities into Tragedy
Katsina State, Nigeria, experienced a night of terror as armed bandits carried out separate attacks in Goda village and Daudawa neighborhood, leaving a trail of devastation in their wake.
According to reports, Goda village, located near the border of Kurfi Local Government, was the target of a brutal assault by armed assailants on Sunday night. Tragically, the attack resulted in the loss of a villager’s life and the destruction of several homes, including the residence of Sagir Goda, a dedicated community member.
Describing the harrowing ordeal, a resident of Goda village recounted, “It was like a nightmare. Gunshots set houses on fire. We all ran for our lives. We lost a neighbor, and many families are now without homes.”
In a span of approximately four hours, another group of bandits struck Daudawa neighborhood in Faskari Local Government Area. Alhaji Sale, a revered member of the community, bore the brunt of the assault as the criminals abducted him along with his two wives, Amina and Rabi.
A local eyewitness shared, “We heard gunshots around 1:30 am. Later, we found out that Alhaji Sale’s house was ransacked, and they took him, his wives, and three of his cows.”
The frequency and brazenness of these attacks have left residents in a state of fear and uncertainty. One resident expressed, “We are terrified. These attacks are happening too often. We appeal to the authorities to swiftly apprehend these criminals and restore peace to our communities.”
The series of attacks in Katsina State is a stark reminder of the ongoing security challenges faced by many communities in the region. The impact of such violence extends beyond the immediate victims, causing widespread fear, displacement, and loss.
