Bob Marley’s grandson, Jo Mersa, passed away at 31.

 

Reggae performer Jo Mersa, a Jamaican-American, was reportedly discovered unconscious in a car yesterday in the US early in the morning.. South Florida radio station WZPP claims to have confirmed that he passed away suddenly from a heart attack.

The reggae performer, who is Jamaican-American, was reportedly discovered unconscious in a car yesterday morning in the US. He allegedly passed away suddenly after a heart attack, according to South Florida radio station WZPP.

The Mirror has reached out to representatives for comment.

 

Streaming service TIDAL appeared to confirm the news of his death with a tribute on Twitter, which read: “Forever in our hearts. RIP Jo Mersa Marley.”

 

Jo is the son of Stephen Marley, who was the son of reggae legend Bob Marley, and followed in their footsteps by releasing his debut album Comfortable in 2014.

His album featured fellow Jamaican reggae stars Wayne Marshall and Jemere Morgan. He went on to release his second album, Eternal, in 2021, which featured artists Busy Signal, Kabaka Pyramid and Melii.

 

WZP Radio shared the news on Instagram, writing: “Update: Unfortunately, it has been confirmed that Jo’Mersa Marley, son of Stephen Marley and grandson of Bob Marley, has passed away unexpectedly from an asthma attack.

 

He was found in his vehicle earlier this morning. Known for his hit “Burn It Down” the reggae artist leaves behind his wife and daughter. We send our deepest condolences to the Marley family during this difficult time. #JoMersaMarley #WZPP #WZOP #Marley #StephenMarley.”

 

Fans flocked to pay tribute to the musician, with one writing: “Nooooo, this is very Sad Sad Sad news to hear.”

While another commented: “I can’t believe what I am reading. So much talent and such a bright future. Rest In Zion Jo Mersa Marley. Deepest condolences to Stephen and the rest of the Marley family.”

 

Jamaican politician Olivia Grange wrote: “I am deeply saddened by the news that artiste Joseph Marley, son of Reggae star, Stephen Marley and grand son of Reggae super star, Bob Marley has died.

 

“We were graced by Joseph,whose stage name was Jo Mersa, performing at our Jamaica 60 Launch in Miramar, Florida, USA in May.”
