NewsReport Nigeria reports that Kelechi Iheanacho, a Leicester City forward, has expressed his wish for his mother to be alive to witness his triumph.

This online news medium learned that Mercy, Iheanacho’s mother, died when he was 16 years old.

After a brief illness, she died in a hospital.

Iheanacho rose to prominence after Mercy’s death guiding Nigeria to the FIFA U17 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates.

Following his success at the competition, he was signed by Manchester City before joining Leicester City.

“I wish my mother could be here to celebrate with me because she is one of the only people in my life who has always stuck by me.

“It aches my heart to think she’s no longer among us, and she’s not even enjoying it.

“Death is inequitable. Imagine having the opportunity to buy her anything she wanted right now, to take her wherever she wanted to go, but death took her away,” Iheanaco told brilla.net
