Day 2: Presidential Election Petition The court resumes pre-hearing with Atiku/PDP’s petition.
There are four grounds for this petition. First, it states that Tinubu’s election is invalid by reason of INEC’s non-compliance with the provisions of the Electoral Act, 2022.
NewsReport Nigeria reports that, according to Atiku’s petition, it also questioned Tinubu’s candidacy on the grounds of the substitution of the initial placeholder, Kabir Masari, with Shettima.
The petition also alleges that the election was invalid because of corrupt practices.
Atiku/PDP’s petition also states that Mr. Tinubu was not duly elected by the majority of lawful votes cast at the election.
Finally, the petition stated that Mr. Tinubu was not qualified to run for president at the time of the election due to an alleged indictment on drug-related charges in the US.
