BREAKING: Doyin Okupe withdraws from Peter Obi’s campaign.

Doyin Okupe, the Director-General (DG) of the Labour Party’s Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), announced on Tuesday night that he had informed party presidential candidate Peter Obi in writing of his decision to withdraw from the race.

Federal High Court in Abuja, in a judgement delivered on Monday by Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu, found Okupe guilty on counts 34 to 59 of the charge the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), preferred against him. POLITICS NIGERIA reports.

He was subsequently sentenced to prison for money laundering, but escaped incarceration via payment of a fine.

Okupe was discharged and acquitted of counts 1 to 33 of the charge which bordered on corruption.

 

Revealing that he will no more serve in the presidential campaign council of Obi, Okupe stated that he was still with the presidential hopeful in spirit.NewsReport learned.

“It’s time to step aside. But I am with PO and the Obidients and the Presidential Campaigns till God gives us victory in Jesus Name,” Okupe wrote on his known Twitter handle accompanied by a copy of his letter to Obi.
