Sterling One Foundation Set To Host Africa Social Impact Summit 2024
Sterling One Foundation has announced plans to host the third edition of the Africa Social Impact Summit in 2024, which is an exciting development for Africa’s social impact landscape. Scheduled to take place on July 25 and 26, this event promises to be a significant gathering of key players, stakeholders, and influencers in the realm of social impact across the continent.
The announcement was made during a special dinner organized by the foundation to express gratitude to its corporate and development partners, who have played a crucial role in the success of past editions of the summit and other social impact initiatives. Mrs. Olapeju Ibekwe, the Chief Executive Officer of Sterling One Foundation, conveyed her deep appreciation to these partners, emphasizing the vital role their multifaceted partnerships and moral support have played in the achievements of the foundation over the years.
Reflecting on the previous year’s summit, Mrs. Ibekwe highlighted the Foundation’s initial plan to host around 1,000 physical delegates at the Eko Convention Centre, only to surpass expectations with over 1,500 participants in attendance over the two-day event. She further noted that post-summit, more than 30 percent of the social impact players who participated received both financial and non-financial support, underscoring the tangible benefits and opportunities that the summit provides to the ecosystem.
The esteemed partners recognized for their contributions included notable organizations such as the United Nations Nigeria, Coca-Cola Company, UN Global Compact Network Nigeria, Sterling Bank, Afreximbank, the British Council, Microsoft, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and the MTN Foundation. Additionally, Mrs. Ibekwe expressed gratitude towards deal room and technical partners like the UNIDO Investment Technology and Promotion Officer (ITPO), African Venture Philanthropy Alliance, Oando Foundation, Palladium SCALE Project, Nigeria Climate Innovation Center, Woodhall Capital Foundation, Impact Investors Foundation, Nigeria Economic Summit Group (NESG), Lagos Business School Sustainability Centre, Private Sector Health Alliance of Nigeria, TRACE, Proshare, Ventures Africa, and other partners and exhibitors.
Mr. Abubakar Suleiman, a board member of the Foundation, highlighted the core mission of the Sterling One Foundation to address challenges stemming from inadequate collaboration in Nigeria, which has led to increased costs for foundations striving to tackle the nation’s and the continent’s issues. He emphasized the Foundation’s commitment to fostering collaboration and providing a platform for individuals to gain new perspectives and insights, ultimately contributing to sustainable change.
