Lagos Govt to Move Computer Village to Katangua.
The Lagos State Government has recently announced plans to relocate the well-known Computer Village from Ikeja to Katangua in the Abule-Egba area of the state. During a combined inspection and enforcement exercise over the weekend, the Lagos State Building Control Agency, under the direction of Dr. Olajide Babatunde, the Special Adviser to the Governor on eGIS and Urban Development, disclosed this decision.
The inspection was carried out in collaboration with various law enforcement agencies and other relevant government bodies responsible for emergency-related matters. Dr. Babatunde highlighted that,, in addition to the Computer Village, other markets would also be affected by the relocation.
He emphasized the government’s commitment to the development of the Katangua market and indicated that significant progress would be visible soon. The purpose of this exercise is to address the issue of traders obstructing traffic on the roads in Ikeja by providing them with a more suitable market space equipped with essential services.
The new market in Katangua is expected to offer a wide range of amenities, including a creche for children, schools, playgrounds, places of worship, storage facilities, warehouses, accommodations, and hotel services. This move aims to create a more organized and efficient trading environment for the vendors currently operating in the Computer Village and other markets in the area.
By relocating these markets to Katangua, the Lagos State Government hopes to improve traffic flow in Ikeja and enhance the overall trading experience for both vendors and customers.
