Dame (Dr.) Adaora Umeoji, OON, the Deputy Managing Director of Zenith Bank Plc, has been honored with the Humanitarian Services Icon of the Year Award 2023 at the Sun Awards ceremony held on Saturday, February 17th, 2023, at Eko Hotels & Suites, Lagos.
The prestigious award recognizes Dame (Dr.) Adaora Umeoji, OON, not only for her exceptional career in banking and her significant contributions to the growth of the Nigerian financial services industry but also for her remarkable philanthropic endeavors and unwavering dedication to improving the lives of the less privileged.
One of her notable initiatives, the Pink Breath Cancer Care Foundation, carries out numerous healthcare programs annually across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones, offering vital medical assistance to individuals battling cancer and other illnesses. Additionally, she extends support to internally displaced people nationwide by donating relief materials and providing free healthcare through various intervention projects. Furthermore, Dame Adaora Umeoji, OON, recently demonstrated her commitment to community development by donating a church building to the Catholic Archdiocese of Abuja and organizing annual yuletide programs that have positively impacted the lives of over 5,000 underprivileged children for nearly two decades.
Dame (Dr.) Adaora Umeoji, OON, holds esteemed titles such as Peace Advocate of the United Nations (UN-POLAC), Lady of the Order of Knights of St. John International (KSJI), and Papal Knight of the Order of St. Sylvester. In recognition of her significant contributions to nation-building, the Federal Government of Nigeria bestowed upon her the national honor of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) in 2022.
