Kanu’s lawyers were forced to wear slippers by the DSS – Ifeanyi Ejiofor
NewsReport gathered that, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, the primary attorney for Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, has accused the Department of State Service of treating Kanu’s lawyers like hardened criminals during visits to their detained client.
On Thursday, Ejiofor released a statement headed “Update on today’s visit being the 26th day of August 2021,” in which he said they saw Kanu in DSS custody this online information learned.
“Lawyers on this occasion were searched in a manner equal to that of hardened criminals being searched for possible incriminating objects,” the statement states in part.
“They were traumatized not just because they were handled inhumanely, but the lawyers were further dehumanized after this humiliating and unlawful frisking, by being allowed to meet their client wearing only slippers after being stripped of their shoes, reading glasses, and writing materials.”
Because the visits were mandated by the court, the lawyer claimed that the situation required immediate court involvement.
