The Ogun State Police Command arrested Peter Taiwo, pastor of the Christ Apostolic Bible Church in Alaja Oke, Saje, Abeokuta, for allegedly defiling a 16-year-old chorister in his church NewsReport gathered.

His wife, Elizabeth Taiwo, was also arrested for allegedly conspiring with him by closing the door on the victim during the act.

DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the state Police Public Relations Officer, said in a statement on Sunday that the pastor and his wife were arrested on Friday after the victim filed a complaint at the Adatan divisional police headquarters.

He explained to the police that the choir member told them that the pastor’s wife told her to meet her husband in their room to run an errand.

Oyeyemi explained that the victim said the pastor’s wife locked the door from outside shortly after she entered the room, after which the pastor overpowered and forcefully had sex with her.

The PPRO said, “She explained further that the pastor’s wife later came in after her husband had satisfied himself and met her crying. She told her to stop crying as she was now a woman. She then warned her never to tell anybody or else she would die.

“Upon the report, the DPO, Adatan division, SP Salaudeen Abiodun, quickly detailed his detectives to the scene, where the randy pastor and his wife were promptly apprehended.

“On interrogation, the couple confessed to the crime but blamed the devil for it. They also pleaded for forgiveness from the victim.

“The victim has been taken to hospital by the police for medical treatment.”

Oyeyemi said the Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole, had ordered the transfer of the suspects to the Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Labour Unit of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation.
