Immediately after the attack on the state CID in Umuagu Umuahia on Saturday, the Commissioner of Police in Abia state, CP Janet Agbede, has said that eight of the attackers were killed, all of whom were suspected of being members of the blacklisted Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, and the Eastern Security Network, ESN.
NewsReport gathered that the PRO of the command, SP Geoffrey Ogbonna, briefed newsmen in Umuahia on Sunday on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, expressing grief that two Inspectors were killed in the incident.
This online information understands that the terrorists attacked the police station at 6 p.m. on Saturday, shooting intermittently, he added.
Eight of the gangbangers were neutralized, according to the police picture maker, after reinforcement from command headquarters was brought to the violent combat with men on the ground.
He went on to say that some of the attackers got away with gunshot wounds and that two vehicles were found.
According to him, the facility was raised down after an explosive was detonated through the back of the structure.
SP Geoffrey Ogbonna stated that the detained suspects were released and an exhibit car was burned, but that no firearms were taken away.
As a result, he asked medical facilities both inside and outside the state to notify security services if patients with suspected bullet wounds presented for treatment.
SP Ogbonna also urged parents and guardians to caution their children and wards against conduct that could jeopardize the state’s peace and security, characterizing it as a whirlwind that will harm no one.
