In the Gambar Sabon Layi village in the Tafawa Balewa local government area of Bauchi State, four people have been reported dead and one person kidnapped by the state police command.
NewsReport gathered that Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, a police public relations officer, said in a statement released yesterday that residents of Gambar Sabon Layi hamlet had received a distress call reporting an attack by unidentified gunmen.
He said, “A distress call received by the command on the 22nd of January 2023 at about 0345 hrs indicates that on the same date at about 0200 hrs, some unknown gunmen invaded Gambar Sabon Layi village and attacked innocent residents.”
Wakil added that immediately after receiving the report, detectives of the command were drafted to the scene, led by the DPO Tafawa Balewa Divisional Police Headquarters, who evacuated the victims to the Tafawa Balewa General Hospital for medical treatment.
According to him, the medical doctor pronounced four victims dead, while one person was injured to varying degrees during the attack.
