EFCC apologized for Doyin Okupe’s arrest after he was let go.
Doyin Okupe, the erstwhile director general of the Peter Obi, Datti Presidential Campaign Council, has been released after being arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS).
According to the DAILY POST, Okupe was arrested on Thursday at Lagos’ Murtala Muhammed International Airport.
His lawyer, Tolu Babaleye, who confirmed the incident, said Okupe was on his way to London when he was arrested.
Speaking after he was released, Okupe said the EFCC apologized for the error.
“I was arrested and detained at the MM International Airport in Lagos this morning, January 12, on my way to the UK for medical reasons, years after the FHC Abuja withheld my passport,” he explained.
“I have just left the EFCC office, where senior officers in Lagos or Abuja apologized to me for the error. Occupation Hazard, amirite?
