BREAKING: INEC claims the election is not going to hold.

As reported by the Punch newspaper, the decision was due to the refusal of electorates in the enlisted polling units to vote.

Prof. Yakubu, according to Vanguard, said:

“There are 240 polling units without registered voters spread across 28 states and the FCT.” They range from one polling unit to 12 polling units in the states in the FCT, except for Taraba and Imo states, with 34 and 38 polling units, respectively. No new registrant chose the polling units, and no voter indicated interest in transferring to them during the last CVR, mainly for security reasons. This means that no election would be held in these polling units.

Election postponement is opposed by political parties.

In another development, there were strong protests against the Inter Party Advisory Council’s (IPAC) decision to postpone the 2023 elections.

According to reports, IPAC chairman Sani Yabagi said:

Meanwhile, the Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has kicked against any postponement of the election, saying under no condition should the polls be shifted.

“Mr. Chairman, under no circumstance should this election be postponed,” says IPAC.

Will the elections in 2023 be postponed?

Anxiety in the APC and PDP camps as INEC receives a last-minute call in another development, the PDP has called on INEC to stand its ground on the conduct of the 2023 general elections at the scheduled dates.

The presidential campaign council of the PDP alleged that the APC is trying to mount pressure on the electoral commission to postpone the poll.

The opposition said they believe that Bola Tinubu is one of those behind this because he is becoming scared of Atiku Abubakar’s popularity.
