Abdulrasheed Bawa of the EFCC collapsed on Thursday morning and was transported to an Abuja hospital NewsReport gathered.
Mr Bawa, 41, was speaking at an event at the Presidential Villa in Abuja when he fainted on stage and had to be helped back to his seat by other participants.
He was then quickly taken to a hospital. It was unclear whether the EFCC chief, who looked young and vigorous, had been suffering from any diseases prior to today’s occurrence.
In his address before to the incident, Mr Bawa was lamenting the prevalence of identity theft in Nigeria.
In February 2021, President Muhammadu Buhari appointed Mr Bawa as the chairman of the anti-graft office.
