Bandits Kidnapped 2 Nigerian Army personnel in Borno

 

Bandits kidnapped two Nigerian Army personnel, Bello Abubakar and Oyediran Adedotun, on the Maiduguri-Damaturu highway in Borno’s Goni Masari area News Report gathered.

 

According to a wireless message sent by 29 Task Force Brigades and seen by PeoplesGazette, the soldiers were kidnapped while travelling to Kano in a civilian vehicle around 5:07 p.m. on Saturday.

 

The passengers in the vehicle who noticed the driver’s suspicious behaviour and his familiarity with the bandits notified the army base in Mainok.

 

Troops from the 134th special forces battalion, led by the commanding officer, were dispatched to the scene, but the bandits had fled.

 

“The soldiers were on a pass at the time of the incident. Liaison with Sect 2 MIB revealed that a search and rescue operation is underway and that the driver of the bus in which the soldiers were travelling is suspected to be a prime suspect in the incident based on some indicators. He was apprehended by troops and is being investigated, according to the army document.

 

The troops who dominated the Mada/Matari area without further contact immediately arrested the driver and seized the vehicle.

 

The army has been unable to locate the soldiers and other passengers, while Mr Abubakar’s identity card and wallet were discovered in the vehicle.
