Zenith Bank Ghana Limited continues to actively operate in Ghana’s banking and securities markets, according to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

This comes after the SEC earlier issued a notice indicating that the bank had voluntarily ceased to operate as a trustee in the securities industry and the capital market in Ghana.
But the SEC noted in another statement that the bank continues to hold a custodian license issued by the SEC under the Securities Industry Act of 2016 (Act 929) and remains an active operator in the Ghaniaan securities market and banking industries.
The commission added, however, that Zenith Bank Ghana Limited has voluntarily ceased its trustee services for unit trust schemes in 2022.
Although the SEC did not specify why the bank discontinued trustee services for one of its schemes, insiders say the decision has nothing to do with the government’s debt exchange program.
