What might happen to Adeleke at the appeals court? Falana

It will be a challenging effort for the lawyers for Ademola Adeleke, the governor of Osun state, to overturn the decision of the state governorship election tribunal, according to veteran lawyer and human rights campaigner Femi Falana (SAN).

NewsReport recall that the tribunal ousted Adeleke for casting too many ballots and pronounced Adegboyega Oyetola, a former governor, the winner of the July 16, 2022, general election.

While speaking in an interview with Arise TV on Sunday, January 29, 2023, Falana suggested that voters in Osun state sue the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for damages related to the loss of ballots.

His words:

“What the voters in those areas have to do is sue INEC for damages because you wasted my votes. “Looking at the judgment, I believe very strongly that it is going to be a daunting task to impeach the judgment.” “INEC has to be held completely responsible for what happened,” the senior lawyer said.

Speaking further, Falana said the tribunal’s verdict indicates that INEC needs to go back to the drawing board so that such an experience will not reoccur.

“INEC will have to put its house in order.

“If we have this in a presidential election where you issue one or two reports, it will have a crisis of monumental proportion,” Falana warned.
