UNITED Bank for Africa (UBA Plc) stated that the action is being taken to ensure the security of both its employees and customers in an email that was sent to its customers on Thursday September 1, 2022.

The communication, which was viewed by this online platform, did not however mention the impacted branches and the revised closing time but a reliable source said:

IT READS:

“Notice of Early Closure,

Dear customer,
Please be informed that some of our branches will now close
earlier for the safety of our customers and employees. Our
digital channels will remain available to you 24/7.

Thank you for choosing to bank with us.”

Some customers have expressed concerns about the decision, saying it would further complicate their ability to do business. The bank’s failure to clearly state the hours that its branches would be running on weekdays also did not help apprehensive customers.

According to findings, this is the first occasion when the country’s deteriorating security has compelled a major commercial bank to reassess its national closing time. Prior to recently, some banks had to change their daily work schedules due to the high cost of diesel.
