Troops Repel ISWAP’s Return to Askira Uba
NewsReport gathered that members of the Islamic State of West African Province, ISWAP, returned to Askira Uba Local Government, shooting sporadically and torching shops at around 5:00 pm.
The insurgents attacked Dille, a village in the local government near Lassa town.
Troops stationed at Damboa Local Government, about 70 kilometers from Askira Uba, stormed the village, killing scores of terrorists, including their commanders, and destroying their weapons.
The report’s details about the current situation are still sketchy, but sources say reinforcements have moved into town and taken full control.
This is coming less than 48 hours after ISWAP terrorists attacked the local government, killing a brigadier general and three soldiers in one of the two ambushes they staged concurrently.
