Daystar Peterson, a.k.a. Tory Lanez, a Canadian rapper, was found guilty on Friday by a Los Angeles jury of shooting Megan Thee Stallion, a fellow musician, in both feet after a dispute about their romantic relationships and individual careers in the summer of 2020.

He was convicted of three felony counts: assaults with a semiautomatic handgun, carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle and discharging a firearm with gross negligence. He faces more than 20 years in prison and could be deported when he is sentenced on Jan 25.

The jury of seven women and five men deliberated since Thursday before convicting the 30-year-old Canadian rapper. Mr. Lanez, who had been free on bail during the trial following a period of house arrest, was immediately taken into custody.
