Seun Kuti’s license gun was confiscated during a search of his house.

Counsel for embattled Nigerian singer Seun Kuti, Mr. Olumide Adeyinka-Fusika (SAN), has revealed that he is unaware that the police have seized his client’s gun license.

NewsReport Nigeria gathered that Olumide told the PUNCH that he saw no link between his client’s case of assaulting a policeman and a gun license.

An impeccable source told our correspondent that policemen seized the gun license during a search of the musician’s house in Ikeja on Tuesday, May 16.

“The officers that searched Seun Kuti’s home on Tuesday only found a gun license, and they seized it. I can confirm that the command is currently working on revoking the license,” the source said.

“Regrettably, I’m not aware of this. However, a license is not a gun. A gun license is a mere piece of paper authorizing the bearer of the license to own and have possession of a specified piece of arms (a gun).

“Besides, what’s the connection between the allegation of slapping a policeman and the police seizure of his gun license?”

The SAN, however, did not respond to inquiries about the musician’s bail, as the police order for his detention expires today (Thursday).

A Lagos State Magistrates’ Court in Yaba had on Tuesday granted an order for the musician to be remanded in police custody for 48 hours.

The magistrate said, “The defendant is hereby remanded for 48 hours in police custody to allow the police to conclude their investigation. After 48 hours, his bail will take effect.
