There is continuing furious gunfire in Ohafia Local Government Area, among the 14 Brigade soldiers, Army Headquarters, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan’s Barracks, Ohafia, and unknown gunmen.

NewsReport gathered information that the exodus of the residents of Elu, Amangwu, Ebem, and Amaekpu, Ohafia LGA, and residents of their respective communities from their neighboring villages to prevent the crossfire was a result of a violent exchange of gunfire between weapons and soldiers. The information was collected.

Six troops and a member of the Eastern Safety Network (ESN) were reportedly killed in Melee, according to unconfirmed sources.

A source who talked about anonymity indicated that many men in the community who feared that soldiers and other police officers would be innocently kidnapped had fled their houses in the village for another area of protection.

“We learned that some guys thought they belonged to the Eastern Security Network (ESN) arrived at Ebem’s renowned automobile park and started firing and then departed.

‘These subsequently came and followed soldiers of the 14 Ohafia Brigade, whose headquarters was stationed in the region.

“The mysterious shooters have been murdered by six soldiers, which is misery on earth since that moment. Sporadic gunfire has occurred from every corner.

“Marriages ceremonies billed to take place any time soon have been shifted indefinitely. We learned that at Elu, soldiers went to the market and started pursuing people.

“A lot of houses have been burnt at Amangwu Ohafia community. They said that members of ESN were using the houses as their hideout; that I can’t validate. You need to call anyone from Amangwu to validate such claims. But what I can tell you right now is that Ohafia is on fire,” said the source.

Army spokesman, Capt Dauda Illiya could not take calls placed to his mobile line, while the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Geoffrey Ogbonna could not confirm the report.

According to Ogbonna, he is yet to be informed of such development in Ohafia LGA.
