You Are Martyrs If You Die Fighting Bandits – Katsina Governor Urges Residents To Protect Families
NewReport gathered that Aminu Masari, the governor of Katsina State, has urged residents to brace themselves against the ravaging bandits, saying that those who die fighting the bandits will become martyrs.
He advised them to obtain firearms and other lethal weapons in order to fend off the bandits.
In the last two years, Katsina, President Muhammadu Buhari’s home state, has seen a fair share of bandit attacks, killings, and kidnappings for ransom.
“It is permissible in Islam to defend oneself against attack.” To defend oneself, one’s family, and one’s assets, one must rise. “You will be considered a martyr if you die while attempting to defend yourself,” Masari stated.
The Katsina governor said he was ready to support Katsina people who could make lethal weapons available for use against the marauding bandits.
“We’ll support those who come with the initiative to procure arms because residents need to also complement the efforts of security agencies,” Masari added.
“It’s surprising how a bandit would own a gun while a good man trying to defend himself and his family don’t have one.”
He insisted that the country did not have enough policemen and soldiers to protect lives.
“Count it yourself, how many policemen do we have in this country? How many soldiers do we have? Even if we say every policeman should go back to his home state, it’ll still not be enough,” he explained.
“So, if we fold arms and decide to do nothing, we’ll be the ones to suffer most.”
