Poultry, initially selling at GH¢55 two weeks ago, now sells at ¢70 on the market.

“As for Christmas, we will have to give the Ghanaians fresh and healthy chicken. The brown, which is the layer, is currently priced at 70 Ghana cedis.

The price of the white one, which is the broiler, will be dependent on the weight of the animal. So we cannot give any price for it,” the President of the Ghana Poultry Farmers Association, Victor Oppong Owusu Adjei, said.

“Looking at the manufacturing cost, the ton per feed, which was 1,500 cedis per ton, The price per tonne is now 6,700 Ghana cedis. The proportion is far too high. The poultry sector is being impacted by this, according to Victor Owusu Adjei.

Due to the impending price increase, the Ayigya market’s vendors, who are currently making meager profits, would experience a seasonally weak market.

People frequently walk away as a result of the unexpected increase in prices. The market will be quiet after Christmas. People are unable to withdraw at least 75 Ghana cedis to buy just chicken and other ingredients to prepare it, according to Akua Amoako.
