JUST IN: FG Reacts as train crushes BRT Bus in Lagos

 

Hadi Sirika, the minister of aviation, revealed on Thursday that personnel of the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) have been instructed “to move quickly” to probe the fatal rail accident that happened in Lagos on Monday.

NewsReport that several people were seriously injured and two people passed away when a train rammed into a bus rapid transit (BRT) conveying Lagos state civil servants this morning.

 

Witnesses at the scene said the bus was attempting to cross the rail track when an oncoming train rammed into it.

The train reportedly dragged the bus from Shogunle to the PWD area of Ikeja.

 

My heart goes out to those who lost their lives in today’s train crash and to those who got injured, as well as to the government and people of Lagos. Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau experts have been directed to move quickly. We solicit public cooperation as the investigation commences.

Reacting to the incident, the Minister wrote on his official Twitter handle: “My heart goes out to those who lost their lives in today’s train crash and those who got injured, as well as the government and people of Lagos.

 

“Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau experts have been directed to move quickly. We solicit public cooperation as the investigation commences, please.
