On Thursday at Orji flyover in Owerri, Imo State, gunmen dressed in military fatigues killed a female police officer and an unidentified homeowner.
NewsReport gathered that the hoodlums were claimed to have come from the Amakohia axis, shooting at random to intimidate onlookers.
According to an eyewitness who told our correspondent about the occurrence, two cars, a bus, and a Hilux, were seen going down the road with full confidence.
Residents in the region were forced to abandon the roadways, while motorists heading in that direction were forced to turn around quickly. Business establishments also abruptly shut down.
According to our source, the gunmen abducted a female officer the day before they stormed the Orji police station.
They were claimed to have returned with the Police during their operation on Thursday after their demand for the Police to be exchanged for one of their comrades who was being held failed.
They were claimed to have shot the female police on the road when she refused to release their member.
“They were accompanied by a female police officer. They kidnapped her the day they assaulted the Orji Divisional Police Headquarters, I learned. They sent a message saying that they would only release her if a member of their team in police custody was released. The hoodlums arrived with the officer, pulled her out, and shot her dead after waiting for their demand to be met.
