Four officers from the Edo state police command have been arrested and imprisoned in connection with the killing of one vigilante member, Ikponwonsa Aikpitanyi.

According to BBC News Pidgin, the vigilante member was attempting to prevent a woman from throwing trash on the road when police officers intervened and shot Aikpitanyi, who was 27 years old. Following the incident on Obaze Street, off Ewah Road, in Benin City, Commissioner of Police Abutu Yaro ordered the officers’ arrest and imprisonment.
