GTCO HabariPay’s Squad announces dates for Squad Hackathon 2.0
HabariPay’s Squad, a payment fintech subsidiary of Guaranty Trust Holding Company Plc (“GTCO” or the “Group”), today announced the dates for its annual social coding competition. Building on the success of the first edition, “Squad Hackathon 2.0” will take place from March 13 to 15, 2025, at the GTCO Training Complex, Tayo’s Plaza, Abeokuta, Ogun State.
Launched in January 2024, the Take on Squad Hackathon aims to foster creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving skills among emerging tech talents. Competing teams will use Squad’s advanced APIs to create scalable digital solutions that improve their communities and address broader economic and social issues.
The second edition of the hackathon is expected to be larger and more impactful, with greater participation from universities across Nigeria and a wider range of problem statements. Themed “Finclusion Revolution: Unlocking Access, Empowering Communities,” this three-day event will highlight how technology can solve real-world challenges that limit access to financial services in underserved areas.
The hackathon will include onboarding, team-building activities, brainstorming sessions, and solution development. It will provide a platform for university students and other participants from tertiary institutions to showcase their IT skills, promoting personal growth, professional development, and networking. Additionally, it will serve as a stepping stone for young innovators to gain exposure, attract investment, and potentially bring their solutions to market.

Registration for Take on Squad Hackathon 2.0 is now open for teams of four. In addition to the grand prizes—₦5 million for first place, ₦3 million for second place, and ₦2 million for third place—standout participants will have the exclusive opportunity to join the Squad Hackademy.
