Gold Smuggling Case Update: Arrests Made, High Court Hearing Set

The Ghana Gold Board, affectionately known as GoldBod, has successfully apprehended Abdul Karim Alhassan and Sadique Abubakar, two of the four individuals who were previously declared wanted in connection with an ongoing criminal case involving gold smuggling, conspiracy to smuggle gold, and transporting gold without a license, among other charges.

NewsReport gathered that both suspects willingly surrendered and have now been brought before the High Court to answer for their alleged roles in the gold smuggling ring. The court has granted them bail, but they haven’t met the conditions yet, so they remain in custody while they sort out their bail terms and the court proceedings continue.

In the meantime, the other two wanted individuals, Mohammed Afsal Puthalan and Mohammed Refeeq Nandoli, who is also known as Salam, are still on the run.

The bounty of One Million Ghana Cedis (GHS 1,000,000) per person remains active for credible information leading to their arrest.
