Garba Shehu Slams Him With Biblical Passages Kukakah Of Falsehood
NewsReport gathered that in his reaction to Bishop Matthew Kukah’s most recent criticism of President Muhammadu Buhari, Malam Garba Shehu, presidential spokesperson, made reference to at least two Bible passages.
The cleric alleged that Christians were being persisted under Buhari during his virtual presentation to the Tom Lantos Human Rights Commission in Washington DC earlier this week.
He had stated that the people still had to see any tangible step to address insecurity, which he believed was religious.
In addition, the clergy claimed that the violence perpetrated against the Christians in Nigeria has been a recurrent experience for many years.
But Shehu described the bishop’s statement as “unbelievable falsehood” in his answer.
It is ‘unfortunate and deceiving,’ he says, for citizens from Nigeria to bear witness before representatives of a foreign parliament to one of their churchmen punishing their country.
Shehu advocated the appointments to the current government and failed to accept that the abduction of students in the North was targeted at Christian schools.
“Where the presidents are North and Muslim, south and Christian, and cabinet is equally balanced between these two religions, no bias exists in that government.
“But neither in our Constitution is there anything that states that political posts must be divided by ethnicity or religion. A critical thing that ethnicity is of prime importance in public appointments takes a distorted picture.
“Everybody who isolates one group for criticism on ethnic lines is even more troubling to hear.
“With due regard for his esteemed position, the Bishop’s claim that the facts on the ground are not supported by only Christian schools that are targeted by bandits or terrorists.
“We must define evil together as evil as a nation and a nation. We cannot permit the division of our religious differences. When we divide our ranks by ethnicity and religion against them, no one gains except for the evildoers. The enemies of the people who must be faced unison are the bandit, kidnapper and terrorist.
“The most general civil discourse does not have a place for those who, particularly to a foreign audience, actively, negatively and publicly label each individual ethnic group. These are not the opinions or views expressed by the overwhelming majority of Nigerians.
“Almost all of us seek to live together in harmony, celebrate differences and, above all, to find common land as Nigerians for all our challenges as a nation. But people like Kukah do their utmost to sow Nigerians’ discord and struggle.
“We must define evil together as evil as a nation and a nation. We cannot permit the division of our religious differences. When we divide our ranks by ethnicity and religion against them, no one gains except for the evildoers. The enemies of the people who should be confronted together include the bandit, kidnapper and terrorist.
“To be clear, on the issues of ethnicity and racialism, the Bible is definitive: Romans 2:9-10 says “And every person who does evil shall have trouble and trouble; for the Jew first, then the Gentile; but for every man who doeth good there shall be glory, and honour and peace;” “No Jew, and no Gentile, no bondman, no free man; no man, nor female, for in Christ Jesus all of you are one.” Galatians 3:28. We stand by those beliefs and are constantly committed to governance, be it Christian or Muslim.
