Eden Hazard has announced his retirement from international football following Belgium’s early elimination from the 2022 World Cup.
The Red Devils were one of the biggest letdowns of the tournament, finishing at the group stage with just four points in three games. Their lone victory came against Canada, who were underdogs in a game that was dominated by Les Rouges.
Roberto Martinez announced that he would be stepping down from his role as manager, and now stalwart forward Hazard has confirmed his retirement from international duty.
“A page turns today,” Hazard said in a statement on Instagram. “Thank you for your love. Thank you for your unmatched support. Thanks for all the happiness shared since 2008.
