NewsReport gathered that following the recount of the votes from Furfore Local Government Area (LGA), Governor Fintiri, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), defeated Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed, commonly called Binani, in the March 18 election. Binani is the flagbearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and was on course to be the first elected female governor in Nigeria.

The collation officer announced the result of the final LGA, the Fufore LGA, amid tight security. While the APC scored 24,777 votes, the PDP garnered 20,777 votes in the local government, meaning Binani did not get enough votes to overcome the 36,000-vote deficit to win the election as governor of Adamawa State.

According to the results of the 21 LGAs of Adamawa State announced by INEC, Fintiri won 13 LGA, while Binani secured eight.

Governor Fintiri polled a total of 429, 557 votes; Binani had 398, 666 votes.
