Report on the news According to sources in Nigeria, the DPP has revoked Baba Ijesha’s bail, citing his case as a sexual assault by penetration.
NewsReport Nigeria gathered that the Lagos State Ministry of Justice’s Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) has ruled out any chance of Nollywood star Olanrewaju James alias Baba Ijesha being released on bail.
In his sexual assault case, the DPP thinks that the thespian has a case to answer.
Muyiwa Adejobi, the Public Relations Officer, spoke to reporters at his office in Oduduwa, Ikeja GRA.
Baba Ijesha could be imprisoned for the rest of his life. He was arrested on April 22 for allegedly defiling a minor, according to the Lagos State Police Command.
The DPP advised the police to continue detaining Baba Ijesha on Friday, according to Adejobi, because the case against him constitutes “sexual assault by penetration.”
“Considering the victim’s age, sexual assault is invariably more like defilement.
“Baba Ijesha is being held by the police not out of our own volition, but because of legal advice from the DPP waiting the outcome of Baba Ijesha’s case in court.
“IF THE DPP HAS ADVISED US TO RELEASE BABA IJESHA, WE WILL HAVE RELEASED HIM,” ADEJOBI ADDED.
Baba Ijesha’s case was initially bailable, according to him, because his offense was predicated on indecent assault, which is a bailable offense.
After the DPP investigated the case file, the police were urged not to release Baba Ijesha on bail until he was charged in court, according to Adejobi.
