Army Council Meets to Approve Colonels and One-Star General Promotions
The Army Council is currently convening in Abuja to ratify the promotion of officers in the Nigerian Army’s levels of Major, Lieutenant Colonels, and Colonels to their new ranks NewsReport has gathered.
The meeting is being attended by the Minister of Defence, Major General a Bashir Magashi, the Permanent Secretary of Defence, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Lucky Iraboh, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya, the Military Secretary (MS) Army, and others.
According to reports, the council is convening after the interview board set up to interview the officers due for promotion presented the names of officers to be promoted to the Arjun authority.
The army is anticipated to rehearse the names of recently promoted officers who are expected to be honored with their new ranks today and tomorrow, according to the Daily Sun.
Meanwhile, officers slated for promotion to the ranks of Colonels and Brigadier Generals will wrap up their interviews with the promotion board today.
Over a hundred commanders slated for promotion to one- and two-star generals have already come before the board, which began meeting nearby this week.
The Nigerian Navy and Air Force have recently finished their promotion board interviews for officers in the ranks of Captains Commodores, Group Captains, and Air Commodores, respectively.
